I know that it can seem cheesy or, even, insulting to claim there’s only one month to give thanks. Thanks to our family, friends, health, life, etc. Granted that you want to be thankful for some of your family. Oops! Maybe I shouldn’t have added that. But, to declare one month to give thanks undermines the value and necessity to give thanks throughout the year.
But, alas, it is what it is. And, besides, there’s nothing wrong with a good excuse or promotional hook to remind all of us to be thankful and to voice our thanks to those who deserve and need it. Last year, I contacted two of my elementary school friends who, together, made up our “three musketeers” during 5th grade. Those years when your best friends were your entire world and made some of the best memories of our lives.
So I contacted both of them to tell them just that. And, they responded saying “that’s the coolest thing I’ve ever heard. Thank you back.”. We ended up having a conversation between the three of us that lasted an hour of memories and an event we all will cherish all of our lives. As well as continue those conversations until we die.
So here’s your B>U challenge: Find that person you haven’t thanked in awhile and contact them to tell them “thank you” and why. Watch what happens next. It can be magical. Take it from me.
Oh, and by the way, thank you for reading this. Be greater than yourself.
